Bukit Senyum Lima Ribu (5000 Smile Hill) is one attractions in Halmahera Barat, North Maluku province. This place is located on Mount Manyasal, the trip from Jailolo to this location takes about 30 minutes. On this hill you can see beautiful view of sea and mountains.
Why is it called manyasal/menyesal (regret)? According to the information from the people, long time ago, there was a man looking for something in this place. The man expected to find something that he wanted. After so tiring climbing without results, it made him regret for climbing this mountain. However, when he was about to relax, then he looked around, it made him smile to see the beautiful landscape of Jailolo.
Why is 5000 (Five Thousand)? Formerly, the Regional Government built some gazebos in this place. Then, the local residents wrote at the crossbar: "five thousand smile" because if you want to take pictures at this place must pay 5,000 Rupiah first.
From Bukit Senyum Lima Ribu, we can see the residents around Jailolo Harbour, with the background of blue ocean, pollution-free sky, Mount Jailolo, Jailolo Bay, and Babua Island. We can also see Ternate Island and Tidore Island. The Gazebos make us more comfortable to enjoy the beauty of nature. You will also feel shady because there are lush trees in this area.
