Damar Island is one of the tourist attractions in West Halmahera, North Maluku province. Named damar (a kind of tree), does not mean it has a lot of damar trees here, Damar Island is one of iconic attractions of Idamdehe Village.
From Idamdehe village, you can go to the island by walking for about 1 hour. Based on the folklore, Damar Island was originally a warship that was defeated by Saiya (a man who had a great influence in Idamdehe). As the time goes by, the ship turned into a large rock.
