Tidore Festival is held every year, which become a folk festival and also to celebrate the anniversary of Tidore Islands in April who reaching 900s year-old. Tidore Festival shows the traditional and typical culture of Tidore that makes North Maluku more interesting to visit. 

Tidore Festival shows the ritual ceremony, such as the procession of Dowari to initiate any customary activities and Soa Romtoha as a ritual for a meeting of five residents to deliver water using rau, taken from the peak of Mount Kie Matabu to be united in a bamboo. Additionally, there will be many shows such as Debus, Ratib Haddad Faraj / Sahadat Boso Kene, praying together, Paji Nyili-nyili (paji means flag & nyili means areas). The participants are paraded by foot from several different areas and meet at a point, named Kedaton Kie Kesultanan Tidore and just lit by torch from night until morning. There is also pilgrimage sailing Jere se karamat to invoke the safety of people in Tidore Sultanate.

The most interesting and historical thing is to watch the ritual of Lufu Kie. This ritual is held to commemorate Lufu Kie which is the title of the war fleet who successfully repelled VOC from Tidore, declared by the Sultan of Tidore, Yang Maha Mulia Sri Paduka Tuan Sultan Syaifuddin "Jou Kota" titled "Alkhalifatul Mukarram Saidus-Sakalain Ala Jabalit Tidore" (1657-1689). Lufu Kie Formation consists of Kagunga Sultan (Sultan's boat) escorted by Juanga Hongi Taumoy se Malofo (12 fighter boats) of Tidore Sultanate contained 12 main forces of the Sultanate of Tidore navy.

The festival is also enlivened with a grand parade of the Sultanate of Tidore and cultural carnival, archives and photo exhibition of the Sultanate of Tidore, exhibition of creative economy, as well as Kabata race as cultural diversity in Indonesia.
