Sumsum Island, also known as Zum-zum Island, has a high historical value. During World War II, this island became the headquarter and the resting place of General Douglas Mac Arthur, the leader of the allied forces for Asia Pacific region to Sumsum Island which often referred as "Mac Arthur Island". Here you will be amazed by the beauty of the island which is filled with pebbly beach of white sand and crystal-clear sea water. The lush nature will make you tempted to explore this small island. Sumsum Island is one of the attractions in Morotai Island regency, North Maluku province.

Sumsum Island is adjacent to Daruba, the capital city of Morotai Island regency, with the distance of about 8 km by speedboat for approximately 20 minutes. Things can be found in Sumsum Island are as follow:
1. There are the ruins of Mac Arthur residence on this island.
2. You can find a command center cave and an amphibious tank landing place. That cave is also the hiding place of General Mac Arthur.
3. On the shoreline of Sumsum Island, it can be found a former helipad.
4. There is a monument of Mac Arthur to commemorate the general who gave order to bomb Hiroshima and Nagasaki and simultaneously to remember this place as a hideout of the Americans during World War II.
